Riccardo Capecchi

Riccardo Capecchi (Ric) is a classically trained 2D animation artist, director, and lecturer with an illustrious career spanning over 40 years. He received his formal education from the Instituto del Cinema in Italy, starting his professional journey as an inbetweener at the globally acclaimed Bozzetto Studios based in Milan.

Capecci’s expertise in animation has made him a sought-after professional by premier international advertising agencies. His portfolio includes collaborations with industry giants such as Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, and Hunt Lascaris, among others. His exceptional skills also landed him a position at the prestigious Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles. Here, he contributed his creative prowess to various notable projects, including The Lion King, Donald Duck – The Adventures of Maui Millard, and Gargoyles videogames.

In July 2007, Capecci had the honor of attending Master Classes in Animation at two globally recognized institutions: Gobelin School of Animation in Paris and Richard Williams’ class in New York. His vast knowledge and experience have led him to lecture animation courses at respected institutions, including the Animation School Cape Town and City Varsity.

Over the past 40 years, Capecci has run his own very successful animation studio in South Africa, Capecchino Animation, and during this time, he has won numerous local and international awards for his work. His services include Classic 2D animation, Character Development, Storyboarding and Animatics, and Environment Design.

In 2023, Riccardo Capecci joined the Parallax team, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise in 2D animation. As a classically trained artist, director, and lecturer, Riccardo’s addition to the Parallax team enhances their creative capabilities and strengthens their position in the field of animation.
